Just so you can have an idea of what responses to these scams sound like, here is an example:

The Sitter wrote:
The cost will vary depending on the travel fee from my center location to your location. Where will Sophie be staying?

The scammer replied:

Subject: details

The services will commence next month 15th mon thru friday.

They will book an ACCOMODATION where they will stay which will be very
close
to you.

Let me have your full name, mailing address to send you an official
Check for
the payment of the services inorder to secure a spot for sophie as
payments
will be made inadvance from my associate before he left the STATE.

l will be looking forward to read from you!

The sitter replied:
You can send your service request & deposit to:

[ sitter provided address ]

The scammer replied:

Just to let you know that l have forwarded your details to the
associate
that will send you the Check for the payments of the services.

He has informed my that he has include their ticketing fares with the
payment mailed to you meaning there will be an extra amount on the
Check
which will be meant to takecare of their flight.

Just get back to me when you receive the Check so that l will give you
the
details of the travelling agent where you will send the excess amount
to
making booking of the flight.

l hope you understand?, as l will be looking forward to read from you!

[ notes: ]
Notice the amount, nor the location, nor even the business name was never specified or agreed upon by the scammer or the sitter. They are just going to send a fake check for this one, and they don't care about the details.

This guy has changed his name a few times, and he is STILL spamming people as of today.
Here is one common one:

Someone just contacted me today to tell me that they received a suspicious email that related to their physical fitness/training center. They searched for the name on the internet, and found a scam listed in this PUPS database under the same fake scammer name - so they knew theirs was a scam also. So you can rest assured pet sitters are not the only ones being targeted with these small business scams!
