Is this spam? or legit?

by Forum Member » Wed Aug 17, 2011 4:30 am

Got the following email recently, haven't done anything with it:

Hi,

I am the co-founder of Pilots N Paws (www.pilotsnpaws.org), and one of

our supporters told me you would be interested in our organization and

possibly helping us raise funds by registering Apres Pooch Pet Sitting for free with

our fundraiser. Pilots N Paws is a non-profit that saves the lives of

innocent animals by volunteer pilots flying them from shelters and

rescues to forever homes.

As our current fundraiser, we are requesting people and businesses to

join Daily Referral. It's a new site that is free to join and connects

businesses and consumers. With your help we will be able to furnish

more pilots with crates, safety harnesses, collars, leashes and

whatever the animals need for their flights.

Daily Referral officially launches in a couple weeks. It is free for

businesses and consumers to join and set up their profile page, which

will literally reach thousands of people as Daily Referral grows. By

registering for a free business profile page (takes less than 5

minutes) you can make special offers to attract new customers, and

when someone purchases from you, a percent will come to Pilots N Paws

through Daily Referral.

PNP has over 17,000 followers on facebook, and I will be adding a

patron’s page on both our website and on facebook where I list every

business that helps us by joining Daily Referral. This in and of

itself is a great way to advertise!

Is this something you would consider helping us do and at the same

time, grow your business as well? Here is more information and the

link for you to use that will track to us. “Daily Referral is a great

new social media tool that helps you make money and grow your

business. You can set up deals in your customizable storefront,

communicate with your loyal customers and gain new followers, plan and

execute marketing campaigns, and advertise events at your business.

Best of all, sign up is fast, easy, and free.

Go to http://www.dailyreferral.com/35621 to see for yourself!”

You will then reply to the auto email that is sent to you and add your

website information and photos, etc. on your page. A specialist from

Daily Referral will be in touch with you to talk about how best to

benefit your company while helping us too.

I hope you join us; it's Free so there really isn't a downside :-)

Also, if you personally join the site as a potential consumer with our

unique link, it also helps PNP.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and thank you for

caring about what we do.

Spam or legit, I'm not sure... but where do you benefit from it? From what I gather, you're donating your services in order to help them raise funds? I'd say "See ya later"

They say they'll add your website link to their site, and mention you somewhere on their facebook page. No real benefit, but I suppose that's the thing with making donations. I finally did some real research and I did "Like" their facebook page, since I think it's great what they're doing, but I'm not about to join a "daily deal" company.

Funny how in their advertising the deal company says that taking 50% of the profits on a day when you have their feature deal ... is "competitive." Hmm. Really? It's only competitive because that's what Groupon set it at! More power to these start-up companies trying to do what groupon is doing, though!
